Housing Information & Resources from 3/30/22 Teach-In
The following resources: Eviction Court Process (English and Spanish) presentation, HAi (Housing Action Illinois) presentation, and Lockout Flyer (information on the rules and regulation that govern lockouts - when the landlord lock you out of your own apartment/home) were provided on a Teach-In about what housing assistance (mainly rental and mortgage) is available and what we're presently seeing in the eviction court system.

The Department of Housing and the Department of Family and Support Services have several initiatives to provide housing cost assistance to Chicago residents impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
A lottery (randomized) system is being used for this program to create a level equity and fairness – we expect a higher demand for our assistance programs than the supply of funding available, and a first come, first serve system would favor those applicants who happen to be more experienced using the Internet or who have all the required documents readily available.
Applications Now Open
The Housing Authority of Cook County is now accepting applications for the Cook County COVID-19 Recovery: Rental Assistance Program starting Monday, August 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM. This program is only for Suburban Cook County renters who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and need rental assistance. To qualify for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Renter in Suburban Cook County
Have had a COVID-19 financial hardship due to a loss of income
Have income pre and post COVID-19 at or below 80% AMI. Click here to check the income limits.
Have unpaid rent that occurred on or after March 27, 2020
Cannot be a participant in any other subsidized housing program, such as the Housing Choice Voucher Program or project-based rental assistance
If you do not meet this criteria, you will not qualify for assistance from this program. For those who qualify, the application is available in multiple languages after you login in to the portal. Please review our frequently asked questions.
