Empowering Families:

Know Your Rights Training at Morton Elementary

Working Family Solidarity is committed to ensuring that immigrant families in Chicago have the knowledge and resources to protect themselves. On January 28,2025 we hosted a Know Your Rights training at Morton Elementary, where we provided essential information on how to respond in encounters with ICE, the legal protections available, and what it means to live in a sanctuary city like Chicago.

Why This Matters

For many families, fear and uncertainty can make it difficult to know how to navigate immigration-related situations. Our training covered:
✅ What to do if ICE comes to your home or workplace
✅ The rights of undocumented and mixed-status families
✅ How Chicago’s sanctuary city policies provide protection
✅ Resources for legal assistance and community support

Building Power Through Knowledge

Community members left the session feeling more informed, empowered, and ready to share this information with their loved ones. We believe that education is one of the strongest tools for advocacy and protection.
